Walker-Smithasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will introduce legislation to seek to enable local authorities to charge rates of interest on their housing loans with a surplus or deficit credited or debited, as the case may be, to the general rate account, thereby bringing their position into line with that of building societies.
§ Mr. FreesonThis proposal was put forward in the Green Paper on Housing 207W Policy (Cmnd. 6851) and will be considered further when the views of all the local authority associations have been obtained.
