§ Mr. Alfred MorrisThe average number of persons receiving benefit at any one time in 1977–78 is 280,000 for attendance allowance and 680,000 for invalidity benefit, including 135,000 receiving non-contributory invalidity pension for men and single women. The estimated costs for the year are £168 million and £725 million respectively.
