§ Mr. Nicholas Wintertonasked the Secretary of State for Trade if he will discuss the basket extractor mechanism relating to textile imports when next he meets the EEC Trade Ministers; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Meacher:The operation of the basket extractor mechanism is part of the day to day management of the MFA bilateral agreements and I do not anticipate that the matter will arise in the discussion on textiles policy at the Council of Ministers next week, which will be concerned primarily with the level of imports from the Mediterranean countries for 1979.
