§ Mr. Kilroy-Silkasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if Shotts prison is operational; and if so, what is its certified normal accommodation and the actual number of prisoners accommodated.
§ Mr. Harry Ewing:Phase 1 of Shotts prison is almost completed and is in occupation. At present 44 inmates are accommodated temporarily in the hospital block, which is designated to accommodate 31. When work is shortly finished on another block with design accommodation for 60, they will be transferred there.
