HC Deb 15 December 1978 vol 960 c557W
Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many quasi-autonomous non-governmental organisations there are in Scotland; and how much money they spent in 1977–78.

Mr. Milan:

There is no accepted definition of the term quasi-autonomous nongovernmental organisation. I make appointments to some 340 bodies a list of which was recently placed in the Library in response to the Question of 26th June 1978 from my hon. Friend the Member for Cannock (Mr. Roberts). [Vol. 952, c. 404.] Information about the total amount of money spent by these bodies in 1977–78 could not be obtained without disproportionate work.
