HC Deb 15 December 1978 vol 960 cc416-7W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for Employment (1) whether he will cause an investigation to be made into whether or not the company, details of which have been sent to him by the hon. Member for Newham, North-West, which has paid to its seven directors £191,000 in 1977 as compared with £165,000 in 1976, and a payment of between £67,500 and £70,000, is in accord with the Government's incomes policy;

(2) in view of the fact that the chairman of a company, details of which have been sent to him by the hon. Member for Newham, North-West, increased his salary last year by £3,112 per annum from £23,824 per annum to £26,936 per annum, whether this was within the Government's incomes policy;and what further action he has taken or proposes to take to ensure that the Government's policy of imposing their wages and incomes policy is applied to all persons.

Mr. Harold Walker:

I shall seek further information from the company concerned and will write to my hon. Friend in due course.
