HC Deb 15 December 1978 vol 960 cc656-7W
Mr. Ridsdale

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will order an inquiry into the fire that took place in a home in Carnarvon Road, Clacton-on-Sea, where ex-hospital patients who were in receipt of medical benefit were living ; and whether he is satisfied that the regulations governing the precautions in such homes are satisfactory.

Mr. Armstrong:

This matter is being investigated inter-departmentally. Ministers will consider in the light of that investigation whether any further action is necessary by central Government. I will then write to the hon. Member and will deal also with the question of powers in relation to fire safety.
