Mr. Jim Callaghan

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science (1) how many children below the statutory age are either in part or full-time attendance at nursery schools or in similar establishments in the Rochdale county district; and how this compares with the position four years ago;

(2) how many children below the statutory school age are in either part-time or full-time attendance at nursery schools or in similar establishments in the Bury county district ; and how this compares with the position four years ago.

The number of children aged under five years attending maintained nursery and primary schools in the metropolitan districts of Bury and Rochdale in the years 1974 and 1978 were as follows:

abroad. I believe that we will have quite enough in the arts and entertainment world to offer to the increasing number of visitors which is expected.
