HC Deb 15 December 1978 vol 960 cc459-60W
Mr. George Grant

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what was the expenditure per head of population in the National Health Service for 1977–78 for the Northumberland area health authority, for the Northern region health authority and for the United Kingdom, respectively.

Mr. Moyle:

Capital and revenue expenditure per head of population in the National Health Service in 1977–78 was as follows:

  1. (a) for the Northumberland Area Health Authority—£115.
  2. (b) for the Northern Regional Health Authority area—£110.
  3. (c) for the United Kingdom—£120.

Notes

1. The national figure is affected by the payment of London weighting allowance to some beneficiaries, we have in mind the need to encourage developments which could lead to a better choice of adaptations to production cars, or specialised vehicles, becoming commercially available to disabled people generally.
