Mr. Gordon Wilson

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what is the representation of the Scottish committees of the Manpower Services Commission and training services division.

Mr. Gregor MacKenzie:

I have been asked to reply. The Manpower Services Commission has established a committee to advise on manpower matters and the Commission's operations in Scotland, Members of the committee are appointed by the Commission after consultation with my right hon. Friend on the following basis:

—an independent chairman (Dr. T. L. Johnston);

—three members appointed after consultation with the CBI in Scotland (Mr. J. E. Beattie, Mr. C. S. Hudson and Mr. R. H. Thorpe);

—three members appointed after consultation with the Scottish TUC (Mr. J. Milne, Mr. J. Morrell and Mr. J. B. Pollock);

—two members appointed after consultation with the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (Councillor Miss E. Carnegy and Councillor W. Harley);

—one member appointed after consultation with professional education interests (Mr. A. Inglis).

The training services division is an operational division of the Manpower Services Commission.
