Mr. Cryer

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will now extend the date for comment on the proposed alterations to the ionising radiation regulations to take into account the non-availability of the proposals in printed form;and if he is satisfied that these proposed alterations will at least maintain existing standards of health, safety and welfare.

Mr. John Grant:

The consultative document containing the proposals in question was, of course, issued by the Health and Safety Commission. In view of the inconvenience which the shortage of printed copies may have caused, I am asking the Commission if it will consider extending the date for receipt of comments.

In accordance with the requirements of section 1(2) of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act any such proposals for measures to replace existing enactments made by the Commission must be
