GKN Prototype Vehicle

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he is now able to make a statement on the evaluation of the GKN prototype vehicle for disabled persons.

Mr. Alfred Morris:

Officers of my Department were given an opportunity informally to examine a prototype of the vehicle and to pass to the project officers some impressions based on the Department's experience.

As my hon. Friend is aware, the Government's policy on mobility help for disabled people is now based on a cash benefit. I am very interested in the progress of this project, however, as I would like to see available the widest possible choice of vehicles for disabled people.
