Mr. Wrigglesworth

asked the Secretary of State for Industry whether he will place distribution on the same basis for assistance as manufacturing in Northern Ireland and the special development areas.

Mr. Les Huckfield:

Since the considerations affecting assistance to the distribution and other service industries are different from those affecting assistance to manufacturing industry, it would not be appropriate to consider them on the same basis.

Assistance to industry in Northern Ireland is the responsibility of my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland.
