Mr. Madden

asked the Secretary of State for Industry what has been the research and development funding assistance to Lucas Aerospace for the last full year for which figures are available.

Mr. Kaufman,

pursuant to the reply[Official Report, 11th December 1978; Vol. 960, col. 63],gave the following information

My Department contributes financially to those parts of the Ministry of Defence's general programme of extramural research which are concerned with civil aerospace. However, it is not the practice of the Ministry of Defence to disclose details of payments made to individual firms under this programme.
