§ Mr. William Wilsonasked the Secretary of State for Industry if he will make a statement about assistance offered to companies under the machine tool industry scheme, including Alfred Herbert.
§ Mr. Kaufman:There has been an excellent response to the scheme under which offers have been made to some 320 companies of all sizes. The offer to Alfred Herbert covers projects for which assistance of £4 .2 million will be available as expenditure on the projects proceeds.
