§ Mr. John Garrettasked the Minister for the Civil Service how many mature entrants there have been to the principal grade in the Civil Service for each year from 1967 to 1978.
§ Mr. Charles R. Morris:The number of men and women taking up appointment in the prinicipal grade of the Home Civil Service through the competitions run by the Civil Service Commission for those aged 28 and over in each of the years 1967 to 1977 is shown in the following table. It is not possible to give a similar figure for the competition held in the autumn of 1978 as those appointed will take up duty at varying dates during the course of 1979. However, 29 successful candidates have been offered appointment.
