§ Mr. Powellasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will ensure that the supply of legal tender in Northern Ireland will be adequate to avoid any interruption or inconvenience to cash transactions in the Province in the event of the £ sterling and the Irish pound ceasing to be convertible at par.
§ Mr. Denzil Davies:Some inconvenience would be inevitable. I am satisfied that the supply of notes would be adequate to meet demand. So far as coin is concerned, about one month might elapse before sufficient was available for all cash transactions.
