Dr. Hampson

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many appeals by parents against school allocations were received by the Secretary of State in 1970 and in the last year for which figures are available; and if she will list the latter figures by local education authority.

Information in the form requested is available only for the current year. The number of parental complaints against school allocations received this year up to the present time is as follows. These include complaints made by parents direct and complaints made by hon. Members on behalf of their constituents. A total of 1,185 complaints was received in 1977.
