§ Mr. Richard Wainwrightasked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many research publications his Department has issued for the public in the years 1975, 1976, 1977 and the current year to date.
§ Mr. Shore:To ensure effective dissemination of research results, my Department issues, both centrally and through its research establishments, a wide variety of publications, ranging from full reports on projects, through brochures and lists of work in progress, to leaflets summarising results and giving technical information. Where the research is carried out by extra-mural contractors, they sometimes take responsibility for publishing the results.
813WThe full figures requested by the hon. Member could be provided only at disproportionate cost and could give a misleading impression. But details of all major publications are given in the DOE/ DTp annual list of publications, which is available for 1975–7, and the research establishments issue lists of their recen. publications at intervals during the year. I will send the hon. Member examples of these.
