§ Mr. Gouldasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he 817W has any proposals for further regulating the activities and operations of private security organisations; whether he is satisfied that their current operations give no cause for concern; and whether he will ensure that organisations with their own armed, uniformed and trained personnel and their own transport and communications systems are not permitted to operate on a national basis without some form of close supervision.
§ Mr. Merlyn Rees:I intend in the new year to publish a paper to facilitate further discussion of the need for control over private security activities. I shall decide in the light of that discussion what action is necessary.
