§ Mr. Wigleyasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer why taxpayers in Wales are given details on form P509, of PAYE inquiry offices in Scotland and England but not in Wales, for advice and assistance in respect of PAYE matters.
§ Mr. Robert Sheldon:The present print of form P509 does not show any PAYE inquiry offices in Wales because no such offices have yet been opened in the Principality. The Inland Revenue has concentrated in the past on setting up PAYE inquiry offices in areas such as London, Manchester and Scotland, where the PAYE records have been removed to remote towns. No wholesale removals of this nature have occurred in Wales. Taxpayers can obtain advice and assistance in respect of PAYE matters from any convenient local inspector of taxes office.
