Mr. Sainsbury

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is his estimate of the total number of beds in the following categories of accommodation: (a) general nursing homes registrable under the Nursing Homes Act 1975, (b) mental nursing homes registrable under the 1975 Act, and (c) old and disabled persons' homes registrable under the National Assistance Act 1948, and run by county councils and private proprietors.
