§ Dr. Summerskill:Information is not available centrally in the form requested. The information available relates only to those drug addicts notified to the Home Office by medical practitioners, including prison doctors, as being addicted to notifiable drugs. In 1977 442 such persons, including 387 males and one juvenile aged under 17 years, were recorded as being admitted to a penal institution and not subsequently renotified as addicts before the end of the year.
