HC Deb 08 December 1978 vol 959 c134W
Mr. Holland

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (1) if he will list in the Official Report the full-time occupation and the part-time official appointments held by the chairman of the Central Council for Agricultural and Horticultural Co-operation;

(2) whether any part of the 40 per cent. increase during the past two years in the annual pay of the chairman of the Central Council for Agricultural and Horticultural Co-operation was due to an adjustment of the time input basis of calculation; and, if so, if he will specify the change in time input basis and the increase in annual gross emoluments directly attributable to this.

Mr. John Silldn:

The salary of the chairman of the Central Council for Agricultural and Horticultural Co-operation was increased by 25 per cent. from 1st August 1977 when he assumed the additional responsibility of chairmanship of the council's marketing policy committee, which had previously been filled by a separate appointment.

The remainder of the increase referred to is attributable to adjustments in remuneration since 1976 in accordance with the Government's pay policy.

The chairman has retired from full-time occupation: he holds no other part-time official appointments.
