§ Mr. Pavittasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what action his Department is taking to settle the industrial dispute of traffic wardens; and if he will now refer this to arbitration through the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service.
§ Mr. Merlyn Rees:The Receiver for the Metropolitan Police District—who is, subject to my agreement, responsible for the pay and conditions of service of Metropolitan Police traffic wardens—is in touch with the Civil Service Union, and is, with my support, attempting to achieve an early return to normal working. As regards the reference of the dispute to arbitration, I have nothing to add to the reply which I gave to the Question by my hon.
