§ Mr. Cartwrightasked the Secretary of State for Energy whether he will give a general direction to all gas and electricity boards to employ welfare officers to assist domestic consumers with fuel debt problems.
§ Dr. John Cunningham:The industries do give advice to consumers with payment difficulties and I understand that area electricity boards and British Gas regions have nominated officers whose 669W names are known to the local social services and who liaise with them on the problems of consumers with fuel debts.
