§ Mr. Eldon Griffithsasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many Rhodesians have been admitted to Great Britain for the purpose of their education in each of the years 1970 to 1977, respectively; how many were admitted in each of the first three quarters of 1978; and how many applications by Rhodesians for student visas are now under consideration.
§ Mr. John:The number of Rhodesian citizens admitted to the United Kingdom as students is given in the annual Command Papers the latest of which,"Control of Immigration: Statistics 1977 ", (Cmnd. 7160), was published in April 1978. During the first two quarters of this year 29 and 31 Rhodesians were admitted as students. I regret that the information about applications for entry clearance could not be obtained without disproportionate expense.
