§ 59. Mr. David Priceasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what steps he is taking to delegate more managerial authority to individual hospitals within the National Health Service, so that more decisions can be taken where the action takes place.
§ Mr. EnnalsI am concerned that the present structure of the Health Service introduced by the previous Government may have weakened management at hospital level and that some decisions are being unnecessarily referred to higher management levels. The damage must be repaired and I shall decide what action to take when the Royal Commission on the National Health Service has reported.
