§ 62. Mr. Hoosonasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what steps are being taken to safeguard the future of health visiting, education and training; and what representations he has received on the matter.
§ Mr. Moyle:The Nurses, Midwives and Health Visitors Bill, which is at present under consideration by Standing Committee B, is designed to safeguard the future of education and training in nursing, midwifery and health visiting. The Council for Education and Training of Health Visitors and the Health Visitors Association have expressed fears that the high Standards of health visiting which have been achieved may suffer as a result of the Bill. I believe that their fears are groundless and I am having meetings with their representatives to see whether their fears can be allayed by some amendment of the Bill.
