(2) how many citizens of the Federal Republic of Germany have been extradited to the United Kingdom since 1960.
§ Dr. Shirley Summerskill:Since 1960 no citizen of the United Kingdom and colonies has been extradited from the United Kingdom to the Federal Republic of Germany, and no German citizen has been extradited from the Federal Republic to the United Kingdom. Until 3rd October 1978, when the Federal Republic of Germany (Extradition) (Amendment) Order 1978 came into force, the Anglo-German extradition treaty prohibited surrender by either country of its own nationals. That absolute prohibition is now replaced by a discretion to withhold surrender.
