HC Deb 05 December 1978 vol 959 c620W
Mr. Brotherton

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many copies of the booklet"Which Benefit? 60 ways you can get cash help"have been printed; how many have been distributed to date; what is the total cost to public funds; and why there is no charge for it.

Mr. Orme:

400,000 copies of the new booklet"Which Benefit"have been printed so far: 262,000 copies have been issued in the initial distribution. Total cost was £26,000, including printing, distribution and VAT.

Since 1970 the Department's policy has been to make booklets of this kind available free of charge so as to get the widest possible distribution among those who are eligible for the benefits but may not have sufficient money to pay for booklets.
