§ Mr. Hicksasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list for the last financial year for which figures are available the total amounts of financial assistance available for the Scottish Development Agency and the Highlands and Islands Development Board, respectively, both absolutely and per head of the insured population for the areas covered.
§ Mr. Gregor MacKenzieIn 1977–78 net grant-in-aid to the Scottish Development Agency was £31.7 million, and to the Highlands and Islands Development Board £10.4 million. The SDA's responsibilities extend to the whole of Scotland, where at June 1976 the insured population was 2,215,161. In the Highlands and Islands—excluding Arran, for which figures are not available—the corresponding figure was 120,033.
