HC Deb 03 August 1978 vol 955 c641W
Mr. Skeet

asked the Secretary of State for Industry what has been the effect of incorporating microprocessed sensing and automatic regulation, the MISAR system, in motor cars to date; and what is the extent of its application.

Mr. Cryer

MISAR is one of a number of systems being considered by motor manufacturers which have not yet been fully assessed or implemented.

Mr. Skeet

asked the Secretary of State for Industry what is the likely effect on the labour market following the use of microelectronics in the manufacture of motor vehicles in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Cryer

The Government recognises the significance of microprocessor/microelectronic technology in the manufacture of motor vehicles in the United Kingdom as well as its importance to manufacturing industry in general; as the Prime Minister recently announced, the implications for the labour market are under consideration by the CPRS and the motor industry will be included in this consideration.
