§ Mr. Woofasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what progress is being made towards the publication of results from the recent national dwelling and housing survey; and whether he has any plans to extend the survey to areas not presently covered.
§ Mr. ShoreProvisional key national and regional results from the national dwelling and housing survey are now available; these are being published today and copies are available in the Library. These results are based on interviews at some 90,000 addresses in England. The final and more detailed range of national and regional results, together with the results for each of the 48 local areas which were sampled in depth, should be available later this year.
This major survey has already produced much valuable new information about housing conditions. The survey arrangements have worked well and I have therefore now decided upon an extension to cover certain additional areas, including the remaining inner city programme areas and a selection of others, to obtain more detailed information about the range of housing circumstances which exist. The cost of about £1¼ million will be met within the agreed housing programme.
The areas in the extension to the survey are: 726W
