§ Miss Margaret JacksonThe Education Act 1944 provides for school 489W holidays to be under the control of local education authorities, except where the rules of management or articles of government provide otherwise, and the holidays are subject to the Schools Regulations 1959. The Act embodies the decision that local education authorities, and where it is their responsibility, the managers and governors of schools, are best placed to respond to the wishes of parents and others over the arrangements they make.
