HC Deb 02 August 1978 vol 955 cc440-1W
Mr. Grylls

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what plans he has for expanding the training of toxicologists to meet the future needs of the Committee on Safety of Medicines.

Mr. Deakins

I have no separate plans for training to meet the particular needs of the Committee on Safety of Medicines, the membership of which includes toxicologists, or of Medicines Division which supports this and other advisory committees in the assessment of toxicological studies on animals and the results of epidemiological work on man. On the training of toxicologists in general, I would refer the hon. Member to my right hon. Friend's reply on 20th July to the hon. Member for Hillingdon and Uxbridge (Mr. Shersby) about the shortage of toxicologists and arrangements for their training.—[Vol. 954, c. 381–2.]
