HC Deb 02 August 1978 vol 955 cc393-4W
Mr. Hoyle

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what has been the amount of temporary employment subsidy paid in 1977 and 1978; what industries are in receipt of it; how many jobs have been saved; and what have been the relevant figures for the north-west and for north-east Lancashire.

Mr. Golding

The amount of TES actually paid—excluding future commitment on current applications—during 1977 was £169.7 millions. A further £83.9 millions was paid from January to June this year. Firms in all industries in order numbers 1 to 26 of the Standard Industrial Classification are currently in receipt of TES. As at 30th June, 453,361 jobs had been supported since the inception of the schemes. Of these, 120,457 jobs were in the north-west region, including 16,601 jobs in north-east Lancashire.
