Mr. Banks

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will publish the rates of pay for workers in Her Majesty's Dockyard, Rosyth, and those for equivalent jobs outside.

Mr. Mulley,

pursuant to his answer [Official Report, 24th July 1978; Vol. 954, c. 616], gave the following information:

The basic pay rates of employees at the Royal Dockyard, Rosyth are the same as those paid to other industrial civil servants, but additional amounts are paid under incentive and productivity schemes. Average earnings for a 40-hour week are as follows:

Craftsmen £74
Semi-skilled workers £62
Unskilled workers £58

Average earnings including overtime are as follows:

Craftsmen £83
Semi-skilled workers £73
Unskilled workers £64
