Mr. John Evans

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) if he will list in the Official Report the number of households officially classified as overcrowded in each of the Metropolitan districts in England;

(2) if he will list in the Official Report the number of residential premises lacking basic amenities in each of the Metropolitan districts in England.

pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 31st July 1978], gave the following information:

Details of statutory overcrowding are not available. However, the following information is available from the 1971 Census: Households living at densities above 1½ persons per room and households lacking exclusive use of amenities: metropolitan districts: 1971
