HC Deb 02 August 1978 vol 955 c327W
Mr. Albert Roberts

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what action he proposes to take on the report of the Royal Commission on Gambling; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Merlyn Rees

The Royal Commission has produced a wide-ranging and comprehensive report containing many interesting ideas, which the Government will wish to examine. It would assist the Government in its consideration of these matters if those affected by the Commission's proposals would send their comments to the Home Office, Queen Anne's Gate, London, SW1H 9AT, or, in Scotland, to the Scottish Office, New St. Andrew's House, St. James Centre, Edinburgh, by not later than the end of this year. In the meantime, I am giving urgent consideration to the Commission's recommendations on society and local authority lotteries.
