HC Deb 02 August 1978 vol 955 c402W
Mr. Faulds

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will consider changes in capital taxes to encourage owners to seek exemption from capital transfer tax and to remove uncertainties about the acceptance of objects in satisfaction of tax as proposed in recommendations 17.38 and 17.40 of the Tenth Report of the Standing Commission on Museums and Galleries.

Mr. Joel Barnett

Recommendations 17.38 and 17.40 of the Tenth Report of the Standing Commission on Museums and Galleries are also the subject of recomendations made by the Environmental Sub-Committee of the Expenditure Committee in its report on the National Land Fund. The Government are considering this report and a statement will be made in due course.
