§ Mr. OakesThe Medical Research Council spent approximately £82,000 in the financial year 1977–78 on research into arthritis, rheumatism and related diseases which can be identified as specifically directed towards young people. Much of the council's other research in these areas, which accounted for expenditure of more than £½ million in 1977–78, is also relevant.
