HC Deb 01 August 1978 vol 955 cc231-2W
Mr. Knox

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how much money has been devoted to research into the effects of viral diseases in young people in each of the past five years.

Mr. Oakes

The Medical Research Council spent approximately £2.7 million on research into viral diseases in the financial year 1977–78. About £105,000 of that sum can be attributed to projects specifically directed towards young people but much of the remainder was also relevant.

Deails of expenditure in earlier years cannot be obtained without disproportionate expense.
