HC Deb 01 August 1978 vol 955 cc284-5W
Mr. Sproat

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what has been the total cost of running the Economic Council, Northern Ireland including all main constituent costs such as expenditure on its own programmes, wages, rent, heating, lighting and maintenance in the last 12 months for which figures are available; and what are the projected costs for 1978–79.

Mr. Concannon

No exact figure can be given for the total cost of running the Economic Council since its establishment in September 1977 as no separate apportionment was made during the last financial year of the costs of the council's office accommodation and other services shared with the Northern Ireland Department of Finance. Excluding these items, the council's expenditure in the last financial year was £21,243.93. The total estimated expenditure of the council in 1978–79 is £101,000.
