HC Deb 26 April 1978 vol 948 c581W
42. Dr. Glyn

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what steps are being taken by Her Majesty's Government to ensure that British subjects who have accumulated funds in Zambia for work done in Zambia are able to transfer such moneys to the United Kingdom.

Mr. Rowlands

Because of a shortage of foreign exchange, Zambia has been compelled to place restrictions on the transfer of funds. As a result British subjects amongst others have experienced delays in arranging for the transfer of their funds to the United Kingdom. We have stressed to the Zambian Government the hardship suffered by those involved and shall continue to do so.
