HC Deb 26 April 1978 vol 948 c575W
Mr. Terry Walker

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what progress has been made by the Warnock Committee on the education of handicapped children and if she will make a statement.

Mrs. Shirley Williams

The Committee has submitted its report, which is unanimous, to my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland, my right hon. and learned Friend the Secretary of State for Wales, and myself. We are all most grateful to Mrs. Warnock and her colleagues for their work on this most important subject. The report will be published shortly and we hope that it will be widely discussed by all concerned with children with special learning difficulties. The Government will undertake full consultation with the many bodies active in this field before reaching their own decisions on the report's recommendations.
