HC Deb 26 April 1978 vol 948 c598W
Mr. Kilroy-Silk

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what was the job performed by the civil servants who resigned in 1975 and 1976 to take up employment in the pharmaceutical industry; what was the name of the companies they transferred to; and if they have now official contact with the Department of Health and Social Security.

Mr. Deakins

I assume my hon. Friend is referring to the two officers shown in the table provided by my right hon. Friend the Minister of State, Civil Service Department in his reply on 23rd March—[Vol. 946, c.682–6] The two officers were under-secretaries in charge of the supply division and the industries and exports division. The first was given permission to take up a part-time advisory post with Biorex Laboratories Ltd. a year after retirement: the second was given permission to take up part-time posts with Vickers Medical and EMI six months after retirement. Their contacts with the Department are the same as those of any other company representatives.
