HC Deb 26 April 1978 vol 948 cc559-60W
Mr. Brotherton

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many planning applications were received from overseas embassies in London in the last three years; and how many were refused.

Mr. Shore

Planning applications from overseas embassies are submitted initially to the local planning authorities and I have no information about the numbers of such applications. However, over the last three years, my predecessor and I have called in for our own decision 22 such applications of which 12 were allowed, some after modifications had been agreed with the applicants, four were withdrawn and the remainder are still being considered. None has so far been refused.
