§ Mr. Terry Walkerasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what action he intends to take in the light of the judgment of the European Court of Human Rights in the Isle of Man birching case.
§ Mr. Merlyn ReesI shall consider the implications of the judgment in consultation with the Government of the Isle of Man, and with the authorities in Jersey and Guernsey where judicial corporal punishment is also at present available.
