§ Mr. Patrick Jenkinasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will make a statement on the threat of closure that faces the Institute of Child Psychology because of a dispute between Government Departments and an area health authority over its financing.
§ Mr. EnnalsI am aware of no such dispute. For some years the Department of Education and Science has provided two or three bursaries for post-graduate child psychotherapy students at the institute, but last year my Department accepted that the funding of such students would be more appropriately regarded as a National Health Service function. The Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster Area Health Authority (Teaching) is considering its future relationship with the institute, which will be given an opportunity to make further representations before a final decision is made.
